CHINATOWN COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT CENTER TO CELEBRATE THE YEAR OF THE RAT BY HOLDING LUNAR NEW YEAR LUNCHEON FUNDRAISER

San Francisco, CA—Chinatown Community Development Center (Chinatown CDC) will hold a Lunar New Year Luncheon fundraiser to celebrate the Year of the Rat on Thursday, March 6, 2008 at the New Asia Restaurant in Chinatown.

“We hope to have 400-500 persons in attendance to celebrate the New Year,” said Gordon Chin, Executive Director of Chinatown CDC.  “It is always auspicious to share good food, good will and festivities with friends and supporters for the Lunar New Year.”

This year’s Lunar New Year Honorary Lunch Committee includes Public Defender Jeff Adachi, District Attorney Kamala Harris, Supervisor Aaron Peskin, Assessor Phil Ting and Board of Education member Jane Kim.

Chinatown CDC is celebrating its 31st year of service to the community this year.  The mission of the organization is to build community and enhance the quality of life for San Francisco residents.  Chinatown CDC is a community development organization with many roles, serving as neighborhood advocates, organizers and planners, and as developers and managers of affordable housing.  Chinatown CDC has developed, owns and/or operates 22 affordable housing properties housing over 2,200 residents throughout San Francisco.

Tickets for the fundraiser are $30 per person and $500 and $1,000 for sponsor tables of ten.  The New Asia Restaurant is located at 772 Pacific Avenue between Stockton Street and Grant Avenue.  The event starts at 12 Noon.  For more information about the Chinatown Community Development Center Lunar New Year Luncheon, please contact Jeanette Huie at (415) 984-1462.
