San Francisco, CA—Chinatown Community Development Center (Chinatown CDC) today announced a grant of $50,000 from MetLife Foundation to expand its efforts to develop quality affordable housing for residents of San Francisco’s low-income communities.  Cindy Zheng, Managing Director of MetLife’s San Francisco Peninsula agency, presented the grant.

Chinatown CDC will open two new affordable housing developments in the next month:

Broadway Family Apartments, 81 units of family housing in the Northeast Waterfront district and Parkview Terraces, 101 units of senior housing on Turk and Gough Streets in the Western Addition.

“Affordable housing is a key element of healthy communities,” said Sibyl Jacobson, President of MetLife Foundation.  “We are pleased to award funding to Chinatown CDC to develop more affordable housing and opportunities for the individuals and families that need them most.”

“We’re very grateful to the MetLife Foundation for this generous grant in support of our work in developing affordable housing and providing innovative tenant services that strengthen and revitalize communities,” said Gordon Chin, Executive Director of Chinatown CDC.  “During these tough economic times, financial support from MetLife Foundation is crucial in the community development work that we do,” added Chin.
