Spring Into Action! Thanks to everyone who participated in Spring Into Action!

holiday party The Annual Tenant Holiday Party was a great success thanks to our many volunteers! Special thanks to the groups who volunteered from the Department of Health and Human Services (Office of the General Counsel) and San Francisco University HIgh School.

Current Volunteer Opportunities:

Tenant Services

Korean-speaking Tenant Outreach Assistant
Bilingual (and preferably biliterate) Korean speaker needed to assist Tenant Services in Japantown building with tenant communication during building rehabilitation. Translation of documents needed from English to Korean. Volunteers needed during the day on Mondays – Wednesdays. E-mail volunteer@chinatowncdc.org.

Work with Kids

After School Tutors
After school tutoring program in Chinatown's Ping Yuen public housing project needs homework tutors for elementary & high school age youth. Volunteers needed Tuesday – Friday between 3pm & 6pm (any weekly commitment within these times would be fine). Minimum 6 month commitment. Call Angela at (415) 984-1468 or e-mail program@chinatowncdc.org.

*All volunteers who work with children must submit to a criminal background check.

Advocacy

Tenant Housing Counselor
We are currently recruiting bilingual Cantonese speakers to be trained as tenant counselors. After training, counselors will provide phone and in-person counseling as well as referral services. Minimum 6 month commitment of 8 hours per week. Help us expand crucial tenant services to Chinese-speaking communities outside of Chinatown.
