Chinatown Transportation Initiative
Phases I, II & III — 1996, 1997, & 1998, respectively
With support from Community Development Block Grants (CDBG), the Chinatown CDC, working with Chinatown TRIP, sponsored the Chinatown Transportation Initiative and managed this three-phased transportation planning initiative to:
  1. Update the Chinatown community's transportation needs since 1970
  2. Propose solutions to meet the needs identified; and
  3. Implement the proposed improvements

Today, working closely with the San Francisco Department of Parking and Traffic (DPT), the Parking Authority, and San Francisco Municipal Raliway (MUNI), we have implemented several of the Initiative's recommended projects, including the Chinatown Park & Ride Program. Chinatown CDC now oversees the marketing of this program. We continue to work with the City departments to implement the specific programs and projects recommended from the Chinatown Transportation Initiative.

Ongoing Projects:
Chinatown Alleyway Improvement Program | Adopt-An-Alleyway | Ping Yuen Residents Improvement Association | Community Tenants Association | Chinatown Transportation Research and Improvement Project | Chinatown Coalition for Better Housing | Committee for Better Parks and Recreation in Chinatown
