Park and Ride LogoChinatown Park & Ride
The Chinatown Park and Ride Program offers a reduced rate parking and free shuttle service. The program operates on the weekends from 9 am to 10 pm, to and from Chinatown and the Golden Gateway Garage in the Financial District. Chinatown CDC, working with the San Francisco Department of Parking and Traffic and the Parking Authority, currently markets the Park and Ride Program.

Originally begun after the Loma Prieta Earthquake, the program was improved by Chinatown CDC in 1998. In particular, Chinatown CDC helped broaden marketing efforts relating to the availability of the Program, including hanging banners on major streets in the community and developing bilingual brochures. The program's objectives are:

  1. Provide parking for visitors to Chinatown
  2. Encourage shoppers to come to Chinatown
  3. Minimize traffic congestion in Chinatown

Since the inception of the improved program in 1998, the shuttle usage per weekend has quadrupled and continues to grow.
