Over 600 guests attended our 46th Anniversary program and reception on Friday, September 29th.
This year's theme, "Chinatown is Home," holds special significance as CCDC has acquired and relocated to 615 Grant Ave., a space within the iconic Sing Chong building where our organization initially operated in 1977. That year marked the I-Hotel evictions and protests, making it a pivotal moment in our history.
Our celebration was emceed by legendary journalist Ben Fong-Torres and youth empowerment leader Jennifer Chan. We featured a video from "And the Community Will Rise" by Lenora Lee Dance, a SRO Families video by The San Francisco Standard, and a Moon Festival Celebration with Ben Fong-Torres and Flora Hui. During the gala, we honored environmental justice champion Eddie Ahn of Brightline Defense (Allan E. Low Super Partner Award), retired schoolteacher and lifelong supporter of youth Gladys Kwong (Community Angel Award) and community activist and transportation advocate Phil Chin (Lifetime Achievement Award).
Thank you for making Chinatown CDC's 46th anniversary a memorable year. Through your generous support, we reached our fundraising goal, and raised funds during the Fund-A-Need to help SRO families and seniors.
We hope to see you at our gala in 2024!
