Request for Artwork Qualifications/Proposals

900 Jackson / 1201 Powell / Woh Hei Yuen Park
“Garden of Peace and Joy,” San Francisco Chinatown

Chinatown Community Development Center invites artists and artist groups to submit their qualifications and proposal for the 1201 Powell Chinatown Mural Call for Artists opportunity.

As part of the historic San Francisco Chinatown neighborhood, this is a unique opportunity for artists to create a new permanent public artwork. The mural wall is next to Woh Hei Yuen Park/”Garden of Peace and Joy” and carries an art budget of $79,500.

Artists should consider the park landscape that has elements of Chinese gardens as well as the neighborhood culture and history. It is anticipated that design work will take place in Summer 2020 and installation will take place in Fall 2020.

Artists should submit Qualifications/Proposal as one PDF that includes 1) Artist Contact Information, 2) Bio or resume, 3) Sample of work portfolio showing, at most, (5) relevant projects, 4) Budget detailing expenses and labor costs, 5) Timeline, 6) Narrative and Rendering, and 7) References.

Application deadline: Thursday, July 2, 2020, 5:00 p.m. Pacific Time.
