COMMUNITY ANGEL AWARD
RAYMOND JAMES AFFORDABLE HOUSING INVESTMENTS, INC. (RJAHI)

Raymond James Affordable Housing Investments, Inc. is a steadfast ally in the fight for housing justice Since 1986, RJAHI has become one of the nation’s largest sponsors of Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) funds—investing over $18 billion in affordable housing nationwide, including approximately $3 billion in multifamily affordable housing properties throughout California under the leadership of Kevin Kilbane, Vice President and Managing Director of LIHTC. These investments have provided thousands of vulnerable families and individuals with a stable, dignified place to call home.

For Chinatown Community Development Center (Chinatown CDC), RJAHI’s role has gone far beyond financial investment. Every project presents its own challenges, and they have been a true partner in solving them—offering expertise, listening deeply, and helping us navigate the complex realities of building affordable housing in San Francisco. Their collaborative spirit and shared belief in community-driven solutions have transformed ambitious visions into thriving homes.

Together, we have delivered three landmark developments:
  • Broadway–Sansome Apartments – 75 homes for very low-income residents
  • 1296 Shotwell – 94 homes of 100% affordable senior housing
  • Maceo May Apartments – 104 homes for formerly homeless veterans on Treasure Island
And we are thrilled to be working together on a new family housing development at 1515 South Van Ness that will be the largest affordable housing development in the Mission in over 20 years.

In 2021, record-breaking storms caused severe delays, rising costs, and material shortages across the construction industry. One of the hardest-hit projects, Maceo May Apartments, faced months of disruption. Through it all, RJAHI put people first—demonstrating patience, understanding, and unwavering support. Recognizing the delays as acts of nature, they stood by our side until the project was completed, ensuring veterans received the homes they were promised.

RJAHI has shown that true partnership means standing together through every challenge—without ever losing sight of the people we serve. For their compassion, integrity, and unshakable commitment to housing justice, we are proud to present the 2025 Community Angel Award to Raymond James Affordable Housing Investments.
