Our 47th Annual Gala themed “Our Village, Our Heartbeat” was attended by 700 guests and supporters on Friday, September 6th at the historic Fairmont San Francisco.
The heart of San Francisco Chinatown is a residential village for seniors, families and immigrants. Since its founding, Chinatown CDC has focused on safety, affordable housing, and economic development, leading to the landmark 1986 Chinatown Master Plan. These same values today are what makes this village a model for Chinatowns across the country.
This year’s event was emceed by award-winning producer and a reporter Cecilia Lei and youth empowerment leader Jennifer Chan. Together we celebrated with our honorees: The Honorable Willie L. Brown, Jr. (Lifetime Achievement Award), 2024 Iftar Planning Committee (Allan E. Low Super Partner Award), and Hanmin Liu and Jennifer Mei of Wildflowers Institute (Community Angel Award).
A highlight of the gala was raising funds during a live Fund-A-Need appeal to support residents living in three affordable housing buildings (1535 Jackson, Bayside, and the I-Hotel) to create and restore green spaces where families can thrive, seniors can meditate, children can play, and communities can grow stronger together.
Next year (2025) brings many ways to support our community including an event sponsorship for the Year of the Snake Lunar New Year Luncheon on February 28, 2025. Also, please Save the Date for our 48th Annual Gala on September 19, 2025. We look forward to seeing you soon!
