Through a partnership with the Mayor’s Office of Housing and the San Francisco Housing Authority, as well as the instrumental support of neighboring public housing tenants, Chinatown CDC was able to construct this building on the surface parking lot at the North Ping Yuen, a SF Housing Authority public housing project. The building was designed specifically for independent living by elderly and disabled persons, families who qualify for rental assistance as “Very Low Income Families” under HUD’s Section 8 program. The building consists of a single story parking garage with 3 stories of housing above it. Its community room is also well utilized by the community.
